Surely the Cult has been around for a much longer time, but it wasn't until about seventy-five years ago that they were a big problem to the kingdom. For five long years the Cult tormented the kingdom Saragas. They killed many people to raise them as undead. And all with one goal: to summon Orcus, demon lord of undead, into the mortal realm. Many brave heroes set out to fight them, but without success. Slowly the Cult came closer and closer to their dark goal.
It took five years to recruit a group of heroes brave and strong enough to have a chance of succeeding. And so, seventy years ago, the new group of heroes set out to defeat this evil. Many perished, but yet they came out victorious. After a long and fierce battle, the Cult was defeated. Purges followed, and everyone connected to the Cult was put to justice. The entire Cult was wiped out, never to return.
The kingdom could start rebuilding everything that had been lost, and a new age of prosperity followed.
Seventy years later, however, the silence is disturbed. The tiny village of Meadowcreek is under attack by not-so-ordinary goblins. This appears to be the start of something much bigger than everyone had anticipated. Is it the return of the Cult of Illithiss? Is it something using the stories of the cult as a cover-up? Or is it perhaps nothing, and are the people fearing for nothing?
